About the project
It was the first time the World Aquatics Championships were staged in the Middle East, and Qatar had already proven its extensive experience in hosting some of the world’s biggest international sports events, including the Asian Games 2006, the AFC Cup 2011, the Arab Games 2011, the 2014 World Swimming Championship, the 2015 World Men’s Handball Championship, and more. MEDIAPRO BMS was there with the latest technology in special cameras, providing Al Kass, the sports channel in charge of the broadcasting, with images from perspectives never seen before.
In this premier global sports event held biennially, which showcases the pinnacle of aquatic excellence, MEDIAPRO BMS deployed three special Omnicam4Sky camera systems to deliver spectacular coverage of the events. These cameras were strategically placed across various locations to capture swimming, synchronized swimming, diving, high diving, open water swimming, and water polo.
The competitions took place from February 2nd to 18th, 2024, bringing together around 2,600 elite athletes from 190 nations. The primary venues for the championship were the Aspire Dome, Hamad Aquatic Centre, and the Old Doha Port, hosting a total of 75 medal events. Al Kass was tasked with providing coverage of the events for a multitude of countries in Africa, including Algeria, Bahrain, Chad, Djibouti, Egypt, Libya, Morocco, Mauritania, Somalia, South Sudan, and Tunisia.
The World Swimming Doha 2024 competition has further solidified GRUP MEDIAPRO’s reputation as a trusted provider of special camera systems for international sporting events. The 4Sky software enables these cameras, supported by a system of four cables, to dynamically capture all the action from predefined angles, both indoors and outdoors, offering unique perspectives beyond the capabilities of conventional cameras.
